Went back to plow a 10 acre field with my Farmall H yesterday. Last week the ground was too wet and only did several furrows before getting stuck in a wet area. Yesterday I started again doing about an acre but as I looked in the furrow water was coming up Rain again today. wonder if the field will ever dry up.

I'm heading out to assess the damage from last nights scattered showers. Hope they scattered around the fields. Rain or no, they get drier every day there is sun and wind.

Now you know why most farmers went to church every Sunday. Have faith.

The wet spring is now putting a lot of farmers seriously behind on field work here in NY. I've got ground worked but nothing planted and the 10 day forecast does not look good. It's supposed to got hot next week so our clay soil will clump when worked. I wish a had a lot of light loamy ground as those guys have a lot more planted at this point in time. In any event I sure am not alone locally.

Parts on Minnesota are very wet also. I field cultivated 2 days ago next to a furrow that was holding water, the tractor pulled down a bit but walked through.

A tough deal when we get conditions like this. Person wants to wait for good ground conditions, but by May 20 corn should be coming up, not sitting in the bag here. Our summers are short, and lp is going to be in short supply this fall from the pipeline games going on, a late wet corn crop is a disaster we know already. The coop has been digging out their fertilizer rigs on a regular basis, as we call them in a bit too soon....

Forecast is good here for a few days, so should get something done.

That brings back memories when I was a kid. Plow too wet in the spring and you'll have clods turning to bricks.. unless your soil's different than around here. You can get away with plowing wet ground in the fall with winter freezes.
