coffee in peace is kinda nice. i can usually only make strange mumbling sounds that early anyhow. thanks for the funnies. :)

I don't drink coffee any more, but a cup of tea while taking a morning stroll to see what's growing, if deer are about, or just to smell the roses so to speak, is a nice way to greet morning. I was rewarded with a small patch of white morels this morning. I saved them so my wife could pick too.

Jennifer408,

LOL! When I roll out of bed in the morning I'm chipper and rarin' to go. The FIRST thing I do is make my wife a cup of coffee. I'll bring her her coffee with a cheery, "'Morning, Hon". She has been known to glare at me and exclaim, "I hate you! It should be a felony to be that happy this early". I then leave her alone to have her coffe in peace and quiet.

My friend’s parents were a strange pair. One would wake very grumpy but after the first sip of coffee, would turn cheerful. The other parent would wake happy and cheerful, but after the first sip, would turn into a Pit Bull.

I'm a morning person, wife definitely not. We work near each other in town, so commute together. Our division of labor in the morning is: Me- feed horses, make breakfast (egg on toast for me, omelet in Tupperware for her to eat later in AM when she is awake), make her tea for the road, get dressed. Her: get dressed.

It may seem a little lopsided, but gets me out of many household chores. We started this many years ago, when her breakfast cooking efforts constantly threatened to burn the house down. I had thought only horses could sleep standing up. But by evening, she's on the top of her game, and whumps up some great stuff.

I'm retired, I can get up any time I please.

However, a lifetime of day shift and an overwhelming need for peace and quiet in the morning has me up no later than 5:30 every morning, and usually earlier.

SWMBO is a nightowl, rarely up before 8:00.

That couple of hours of me grumping around, scratching and getting my caffeine levels up to Operating Minimums has kept our marriage pretty peaceful for going on 40 years.
