I might be in the market for some security cameras for our place in Dallas.

I would like to know if you have a security camera(s), what kind you have, how many, cost and if you're pleased with what you bought.

I have a Qsee brand 8 camera dvr works great, also can monitor via internet on my smartphone.

Nancy we have had cameras for years but recently upgraded our Paris house to wireless. Allowed for easier instillation. Box is over there we stay at the farm house most time. I do know I purchased the unit a big box store in this area called Best Buy. First time I am over there will check it out. Records 4 cameras on a small chip. So far it is flawless with good video even in the dark.

I've been looking at the systems at Sam's Club. They have different units from 4 cameras to 16 cameras. Haven't figured out how many cameras that we should have. Should there be some cameras inside as well as outside?

The Samsung units seem to be good units.

I just bought a Swann System, Amazon, $400. I have to hook it up yet. 4 cameras total.
A guy I work with bought this Swann setup and he likes it. he caught his neighbors kids vandalizing his boat in the middle of the night.

I have an Ultra CCTV security system---DVR records about 60 days depending on speed--4 sony 80 LED exterior color cameras good to 0* F. Company hosts a website so at no cost I can access the cameras on the internet. Included color monitor also---$1300

We just installed a 8 camera HD system in our market that we bought from Super circuits out of Austin TX. Their tech support was very helpful answering questions.
In camera systems, you get what you pay for. The higher the resolution,(clearer picture), the more it costs. The clearer the picture, the better the chance of prosecution of the scum bags ! Tom

Check out the Iris System sold at Lowes. All wireless and will do much more than just cameras.

Nancy I'm glad you brought this up, I've been thinking of doing the same for my farm and even maybe for my workplace, hopefully there will be some good advise.

panasonic blc series.. they will take pictures of motion and email you with a notice, with or with out the picture. you can get them wifi or wired to you network. Can access them remotely and see and hear also if you need to. The are by far the best out there and have been around for years..Can store pictures on the camera and some models will "ftp" them as in to the weather folks for weather cam pictures. A bit pricey but extreamly high quality.

I have had bad luck with Supercircuits, poor workmanship, poor quality, poor tech support.
