That was fast..........

The day before yesterday, Wednesday evening, I bought a new aftermarket turbocharger for my D19 Allis on Ebay.

Ten o'clock this morning it was delivered. For $425 and free shipping, I think it was the right choice. I'll have to fabricate fittings for the oil line hookups, but I don't see that as a problem.

If I'd have succeeded in finding a used unit, it probably would have cost me several hundred dollars plus shipping, anyway.

BTW, I was at an auction Wednesday where a D19 gasser sold for $3100. The power director lever felt kinda loose going into low and I never got serious about it. It was sort of funny, though. Bids were going up in $50 increments. One guy kept trying to stop bidding, and his wife kept poking him to keep on. This went on for a half dozen bids. Finally, when they would have had the next bid, he shook his head. The auctioneer looked at his wife and she shook her head, too.

My wife (THANKFULLY) does not go to auctions with me.

I return the favor by NOT going with her to the mall!

Last year I was bidding on a tax-foreclosed house we hoped to buy and flip. I dropped out after going 10K over my target price. The auctioneer tells me "you better keep bidding, your wife is nudging you!" I went up another 10K and still didn't get it.

That's what's fun about this forum. No matter what anyone does, someone else has already done it better, easier, faster, cheaper, more efficiently, or with more permanent results.
