on the MF TO-35.
pulled the genny and put an alternator on. i didn't have any problems with the pulleys. the one on the genny was keyed and the alt wasn't and they pulled right off. it lined and bolted right up perfect, so i was happy about that.

i yanked the old wire harness because it was pretty much fried. i have everything i need so im gonna make up a new wire harness for it and add a second battery for plenty of cranking power.

times 2 on the second battery. I don't think that tractor needs a second one. Only my opinion.

Just needs good cables and nice shiny connections (ground connections are often overlooked).

If it still doesn't crank good - might be the starter's getting tired. Better to put the money there instead of another battery.

We've had a 35 for 13 years and never had any problem with lack of
cranking power from a single 12V battery, even at -20 degrees.
Once we had to replace the battery because it quit, but in 13 years I
figured that was normal.

The alternator has a lot more output than a generator. For the short runs of a chore tractor the alternator is far better than a generator.
