Interesting situation........

Our daughter, who lives in Falls Church, VA, had to be cleared by the CIA to attend a retirement party.

The retiree, the mother of one of our daughter's girl friends, worked for the CIA and the retirement party is at CIA HQ in Langley. I'm sure it will be in a neutral part of the building, but everyone that was invited to the party had to be cleared and credentialed to attend.

I once had to get clearance from the FBI to work on fiber optics in the J Edgar Hoover building in DC.
They worried because I had a totally clean record, not even a speeding ticket.

Still no tickets or charges and I am 60 years old.

Kid who worked for me qualified for army intellagence fbi did background check never forgot the question can he be influenced by a foreign power ?? Reminded me of when kennedy got elected . also forgot to tell dad the fbi might be looking for me he got kinda excited when they called looking for me.

I'm 79 and have never had a ticket. But then, I never speed - - although I notice that most of the vehicles that I pass are speeding.

classified. He is Subject to a surprise lie
detector test at any moment. I don"t think I"d

I was in a situation like that in the Marine Corps when I worked in nuclear weapons.

I was single at the time, and was the only man in the Staff NCO quarters who had his own private telephone with the Corps paying the bill. No one else in the building could figure out why, nor did they ever find out.

A neighbor of my parents told me after the fact that two men appeared one day, identified themselves as FBI agents, and began asking all sorts of questions about me. The neighbor had two sons in the military, so he assumed what it was about.

I can still hear an Air Force Captain at an orientation session saying "Gentlemen, without your knowledge, for the last six months to a year you've been under intense investigation. Right now the FBI knows more about you than you know yourself. And, trust me, the KGB knows as much as the FBI". Comforting thought.

I could talk about it now, since it's been over 50 years, but I don't. Mostly 'cause no one would believe me anyway, they'd just think I was spreading BS.

My brother was lifetime Army (Army Security Agency). At a family gathering, our BIL who was a programmer for NSA casually mentioned that he"d go to another country for a better deal. Brother turned him in, as he should have, and BIL never worked for govt again.

LOL, is funny now but while on active duty I applied for a clearance. It was back approved much faster than others I knew. Years later I found out that basically they called only 2 people listed as references, our county Sheriff and a local town cop. One was a friend of the family and the other was in my wedding party and a high school buddy.

Seems like a crazy country we live in when you can break the law by illegally slipping across the border, but then qualify for every "benefit" DC has to offer. Yet citizens have to have security clearance to attend a retirement party at some governmnet office building. You gotta laugh to keep from crying.

My sister might know him, she has worked there for years. I have no idea what she does.... :shock:

She should have just told them that she plans on voting while she is there so they have no right to see any ID of any kind.

Well..........If the party is in a CIA building then what would you expect.

I just finished reading a book on how Fooked up the USA is, especially on the political end. The special interests have twisted the elected buffoons so that it is now all about kickbacks, bribes, and pork. It was actually quite a disgusting book to read to know that the land of the free is just about wasted away. The book is "the Future of Freedom"

Back in the '60s, my oldest Sister was going into the Foreign Service, and the FBI interviewed several of our neighbors. Most likely including the German immigrant couple one of whom had served in the German military and who also thought Hitler 'was a good man, yah'.
She got the job and spent 20 years overseas.
