Corn is all DONE!!!!

We have been hitting it hard for the last two weeks. First getting all the fertilizer applied. Then the tillage and planting.

I planted mine first as that is the deal with the boys. I own the majority of the equipment so I chose when to plant mine.

I also only have a tenth of the acres they do any more any way. LOL Planted all of mine in two days.

My brother and my sons run together this year. They had two planter going 24/7 for the last 4-5 days. They got done just before Noon today. The light rains started just as they finished.

They will switch to soybeans later this week. It is supposed to be wet and cold for a few days.

We have only gotten 2-3 tenths of rain so far. Maybe will get some more Monday.

Also had my computer die. Power supply/transformer quit. Using the wife"s with windows 8 on it. I HATE IT!!!!!

I am not sure what I am going to get for another computer. May not replace mine. I have lots of projects to get done and wasting time on the computer is not helping. LOL

JDseller Good to hear from you. I have been thinking about you as you haven't posted in a while. I have both of my tenants just finished corn. & my daughter tells me we are getting rain in SW Iowa. I just put in some new tile lines & I hope they settle in good.

Good to hear you are all in for corn. The wheels just started to turn around South Ontario last week. We have had a lot of rain , and more to come this week. So everyone is behind. Even pasture is late and livestock farmers are scrambling to find hay to get them through for another week or two, to let the grass get going. Bruce

Very little is happening here with anybody. Also, the weather outlook for the week is wet so we will be late. There is a lot of heavy ground in the area so the hard core no-till farmers have to really be concerned at this point. The neighbor stopped down Saturday afternoon and we were both lamenting that it is going to be a late spring. I wish no-till was more practical for my ground.

Corn planting is just getting started here in Lewis Co. A lot of the seeding is done, but it's been too cold and wet for corn until this weekend. not much done with gardens here yet either.

Good feeling to be done isn't it, I love beating the rain when doing hay, feels like you won something I swear!

I just got back from north of here, nice ground up there. I am sure they are started at the big dairy, a 2000 head operation, but the more distant fields have not been touched yet and even the hilly well drained ground near me has not been touched yet, so its getting towards the deadline depending on whats being planted, but that changes fast, my favorite time of year, goes by too quick, apple blossoms are just starting, sure does smell good, I hear the turkeys out at 4-5am, always look forward to the month of May.

25 miles away some folk are done with corn, waiting for it to dry out to start beans, THen they will replant corn. Some has been in over 3 weeks over there, and under standing water 4 times now, with the cold and overcast there will be replanting.....

Lot of puddles around here and cool days, in my local neighborhood not much has been done yet. I pushed a little and got 3 acres of corn planted so far.

Had .6, .85, .25, and .8 of rains the past few days, and was barely good to go before that, had the wife harrow a bit the day the rains started, she got sticky tires a few times and had to circle one spot.

Supposed to rain this afternoon again.

Yet another long spring, nothing done, too dang wet and cold.

I haven't even got started yet.Was gonna start today or tommorrow.A few guys are done.Lots is still being planted.Been feeling pressured to be planted out.Maybe its a good thing I haven't started with all the cold/freezing,rain,snow.....

Some of the oats I planted had corn in the mix. Oats are about 3" and haven't seen a sign of corn. It's been cold more days than warm so far. I'll wait to see when Randy plants. Still need to apply fert, but it won't be today or maybe this week. Calling for rain almost every day.

Growing up we had a wood Boss spike tooth harrow- sometimes puled it with a chain, around the wet spots. Would drive across, cut the corner, and the drag would follow inside, drying out where we couldn"t yet drive.
