The best CL ad of the day

It just needs a couple of cylinders resealed and some paint. Looks totally doable. Tires? It didn't get hot enough to burn those - they were optional on that model.
Needs paint

Yeah, that SURE looks like a $1600 mower with the strap metal rear wheel supports. One good bang through a draw and you would be looking through the scrap pile for reinforcement.

Craig's List should be like any other site - it should have buttons you can push. I'm thinking one that said "You've got to be out of your mind" would be nice.

Twenty years ago we bought 6 foot Bushhog new for $2300, and like he said soon as it went thru a dip tail wheel assembly was toast! It didn't help that I let a 16 year old mow for me! I sold that pos about 12 years ago and bought a Howse for $800 brand new from tractor supply. Only problem is I didn't get it with a slip clutch. I only mow about 5 acres of horse pasture a year so not a big deal. Greg

Don't know about the 5 foot, but I bought a new 4 foot Bush Hog Squealer from local JD dealer 2 years ago for about a grand, delivered.

WHAT's the issue???

He"s listing the LOADER, which MAY be (nearly) worth the $1500.00 because of the "large bucket and bale spear and attachment quick coupler plate" that are included.

If you read the ad closely, I think they're just selling the loader- never mentions the model of the tractor, and the description as written could very easily just apply to the loader. And if they were trying to sell the tractor, it sure seems like they would have had some pics from the rear. Tractor sure doesn't look fixable.

Still too much money, of course. . .

Before you guys laugh to hard you need to go to the Idabell salvage auction. Jockeys will buy that just to get the tractor mounts. New that loader cost over 5 grand so someone might be satisfied to replace the two cylinders and a few hoses. Cost of things no days just is hard to realize how good junk can be.

That's the way it used to be at the sale in Archbold. Skid row was what they called the row of tractors that were sold with no guarantees. The ones that had been through a barn fire would bring more than running tractors.

When the fire heats metal like it did to burn the paint. Does that effect the metal, make it soft or week, Or it is just needing a new paint job and all is well.

that"s why every tractor, rider lawn mower, truck, I have carries as big an extinguisher as I can fit in.

Yes, it's just the loader that's listed. Someone might buy it... I wouldn't touch it... As hot as that fire was, I wouldn't trust the strength of the steel on the burned side of the loader any more, or the mounts.

DITTO!

When it gets hot enough to distort the sheet metal, like the engine left side cover in the pic, its toast, and so soft you can't do anything with it. The tractor is scrap.

I gotta ask...what part of that tubing or bracing do you think would be heat treated when it was made that a fire would have taken the strength out of? Isn't that just plain low carbon mild steel tubing and plate thats welded together? Or am I missing something? I might replace the pins, they might be made out of something better, but I doubt it.
Just asking.
