Oliver plow ID?

I was offered this 3 bottom Oliver plow and when I looked at it well it was kinda dark and hard to see. Farmer bought a new 550 and these plows new in 69 or 70 and I know they were never used that much because in 79 he rented the farm out and he retired. Believe it or not they were allways in the barn.

I know that they are 3x12s and cat1 3pt and they wont work on my 1550s at all. Can someone tell me the model number and witch bottoms these are? I haven't seen bottoms like this in 30 years but I figure they are sod bottoms but they are different than I have seen before. These are truly barn fresh. Bandit

If you move those sway blocks it should work. Look in your operators manual on how to set your 3-point hitch for CAT1. Look on the back of the moleboards and see what the numbers are. It does have the shares for 12 inch on there. My guess is a 3240. I think the 3241 had a little different mast for the third link. Oliver fan will know. I am not a big plow guy. We sold about 1 fully mounted plow of those 2 series a year.

I like those bottoms, same as Dearborn had on the econmy series plow. Only thing I did not like was could only get a plain blade type when should have been avaible to get a rock type share with a nose. I had them on a clutch lift plow that did not work good behind the A Deere, would have worked OK behind the AR Deere that was of the wheel tread for that Oliver hitch and the A was too wide. Pulled easy. Now that frame is adjustable for 12", 14" or 16" spacing and mine like that was set on 16" spacing with 14" bottoms. You could set it to 14" and would work OK with those 12" bottoms but stay at same depth and not go to the deeper depth the larger bottoms are usually run at. We pulled ours with a 3 cylinder Ford 4100 but it was used when we bought it a I think a 1600-1650 or something like that. You copuld get either a cat 1 or cat 2 hitch and we had cat 1.

I got shims at farm and fleet to make cat 1 fit on my 1550 and sway blocks it didnt show much in the manuel so i put it on and the blade when its down its one way to make it tight and if i was ambitious i could turn them so when the woodspliters on it would be tight raised up

These plows are coming out of the woodwork lately.
They are adjustable width. Look at the rear/top bar on the
tractor's right and the center cross bars. You can spread the
bottoms apart to make them cover more ground or narrow them
for tougher, unworked ground.
I'm not sure the exact model of yours, it is different than mine.
Top link frame, lift arm adjustment, etc. I believe mine is a 3241.

Thanks for the information guys, By the looks of it its a 3242 plow with sod bottoms. I have another 3 bottom that has the same frame put has a different 3pt tree and bottom link. To get it home I had to take the balls off the lift arms and put a washer on it with the clip to get it home. The plow has cat 1 pins for lift arms like a 550 has or a Ford or MF used on there small tractors. Not sure what I am going to do with it, Its too good to let the scrap man have it. The other plow I can read something 52 on a decal on it and is a good plow but needs the center link worked on.

Funny how a plow that never sit out and was allways inside can have no paint on it, But in 1971 we moved next door and I know it never sit out and like everything else he had it was in the barn. When I bought it, It was sitting on the same pallet I put it on in 1979 when he broke his leg and I worked for him till he could get up and around the farm to do the chores. Sure glad I put it on a good pallet!
