Galaxy tires?

Looking at a set of Galaxy 17.5L-24 R-4s. I have seen Galaxys for years on John Deere and Ford mainly on golf courses, aka turf tires.

Any body have experience with the Galaxy R-4s?

Thanks,
Rick

Yes I sold a lot of them, don't know that we ever had a problem with them. heavy casing, I would sell them again.

My Titans on the front of the tractor are cracking/separating in front of the lugs. That"s why I was looking at Galaxys or Firestones.

Since Titan/Goodyear are the same now, I ruled them out based on my fronts right now.

Think I might try them. Gotta make the decision in the next week or two.

I put Galaxy 11.2x28s on my 46 2n. One has been OK. The other started dropping pieces off of the lugs. Looked like wads of bubble gum falling off. Left a smooth spot where the rubber fell off.

Richard, you wouldn't happen to do a lot of moldboard plowing with that 2N, would you?

That's your in-furrow wheel and if you're doing a lot of spinning in furrow, the gravel and sharp stones will chew the daylights out of that tire.

They're not a Firestone... but they're a decent cheap tire. I find they wear fast but are otherwise good. The faster wear rate is offset by the cheaper price. If you don't plan to wear them out... it's not a factor. They're a hell of a lot better than Titan.

I don't farm. I just use this tractor to maintain my 10 acres and 1 mile gravel road. Mower, back blade, post hole auger, gannon, drag made out of big pickup tires bolted together into a triangle. Not used rough at all. Soil is hard packed sandy soil. Don't spin tires (much) you can see in the picture other pieces starting to seperate.
