Train Hits Tractor

A friend of mine made a right turn off the highway right in front of a fast freight train with his pickup and gooseneck trailer. The train hit between the pickup and trailer, separated them and turned the pickup end-for end. He sat there watching the freight cars flash by; the trailer was on the other side of the train. The full water tank on top of the trailer just exploded and unwound.

We picked up sockets and tools along the right away for a half mile. Some of the sockets were cracked from the impact. My friend was not even bruised from the accident!

A co worker of mine was driving and talking on the company radio, crossing the tracks and was hit. The engine hit right behind the cab. He never lost consciousness. The motor was revving to the max, and he was trying to shut it down. The cab was separated from the chassis and , laying on it's side while he was still in it, still belted in, but not in the seat. his head broke out the right side window and they found his glasses on the cat walk of the engine. Broke some ribs, shoulder, and arm. He was off work for nine or ten months. Lucky to be alive and still driving.

My grandfather was a crane operator for Santa Fe for most of his life.. Always instilled in me to never mess with, race with, or go through the down rails.. YOU WILL LOOSE.. he said. I have lived by this.. Always goes through my head when coming up on a crossing..

trains always win .ALWAYS EXPECT A TRAIN..s-I-l lost her brother to a train ,, multiple trax ,lots of noise , he waited for slow train next to tracks of parked box cars which were disconnected to allow roadway passge , once 1st train cleared ,, he drove the semi through the parked cars passage into the path of another train comin opposite direction ..train scraped the semi tractor along the parked rail cars ,,,, it was a closed casket

Neighbor has one field that is only accessible by going up steep hill and across double unmarked crossing, scares me every time.

Good advise! Even if the light are not flashing or the arms are up, always look!

Ever seen inside one of the control boxes? I'm sure they are not all this way, but I had a chance to look inside one that was left open...

The biggest mess or ancient, crumbling wire-nutted, tangled and mangled wires you ever imagined! No order, no labels, just whatever it took to make it work.

And we bet our life on that every time we don't look!
