Fall of wagon

Just wondering how many of you start the day with coffe? I quit drinking it about 2 years ago but have a terrible craving for the tast again. Might fall of the wagon.

Do like my morning coffee, Couple of cups usually. Don't think little coffee is bad for you,it is what you put in it. I like it with honey for sweetness.

wife makes coffee at night, i just turn it on first thing morning. 3-4 cups, varies with day and season. typically no more after morning. now; when i worked shift work it was totally different.

Yep, with a couple of guys at McDonalds before work. Been doing it for about 20 years. I guess I got started when the kids were in school, and had "zero hour" at 7 AM, for extra-curricular stuff like Debate, Jazz Band, etc. Had a gap after dropping them off until work at 8, so started the coffee thing. One cup there, another cup spread out over the day from my Thermos. I started out having breakfast there as well, but that quickly got hazardous to the waistline, so had to drop back to coffee only.

When I need to cut back on caffeine, a cup or two of hot water in the morning works as a substitute for me. If I still occasionally still need coffee, one cup is all I want after the water. Eating something with a little sugar in it gives me about the same jump start in the morning as caffeine does, without the high blood pressure problems.

I gave it up some years ago, but like a good cup of coffee, something mild but flavorful, I found that its not healthy, I need to sweeten it to much, so it has to be mild. When I worked in NYC, I had real early start times, well I wanted to beat the traffic, so I would leave real early, some jobs the local cafe's would open early just for the construction workers business, one place at 5:30 am, so I would arrive at that time, easy parking, go in and have a latte, no sugar needed, very enjoyable drink but the expresso in it LOL, its the last thing a guy like me needs, by 7 am start time, the ironworkers I supervised would be out of the shanty and onto the floors working or they'd deal with an over caffeinated super LOL ! Stragglers coming out of the subway at 7am would get a little wrath, learn they had best be on site 6:45am and be working at precisely 7AM, not gathering tools or going to their assigned work at 7AM, but putting work in place. They like to shave their 7 hour day, knocking off a tad early, 2pm and they would get me in hot water over it, so I created a happy medium with a zero policy of late starts, that there expresso and avoiding morning traffic also helped LOL. Never any trouble with the union over it, just remember the caffeine high every day.

For me a daily treat is irish breakfast tea, black tea if you will and a nice tablespoon of raw honey, just right and I'm not on the verge of a caffeinated anxiety or panic attack LOL !!!! Well not really, but you get the point, already high strung, best not to add to it.

Had open heart surgery 2 months ago. After ward cardiologist said a c couple of cups of coffee in a day won't hurt you. He always has 2 cups a day but not until after surgery in the morning. I follow his example but for me getting up is the same as having done surgery

Cup of Hills Brothers capricino then non till the next morning.
Never had trouble with caffeine can go right to sleep after a large cup.

Always start the day with at least 2 cups,....some days (today is one) I make another pot, which equals 3 more in the cup I use. No creamer or sweetener, my Mother of Norwegian descent, always said "if you are gonna drink it..drink it black, don't put cream and sugar in it like the Swedes do!"

I drink it all day long year around. I grew up with a pot of coffee on the wood stove as a kid everyday.

We only have coffee on Sunday mornings during the cool season; when it get hot here in the desert we don't make coffee at all.

I drink a cup with the wife and a cup with Mom when I check on her every AM. I like it black but sometimes I put a dash of salt and a dash of cinnamon. I was raised in south Arkansas so I kinda like Cajun chicory too.

funny seeing this today. I have been off the coffee for about 6 years. Last nite I made a pot and had 2 cups before I went to run the coon dogs. I think I am hooked again.

Use to drink 2 pots, yes 2 pots before 10am. (I get up most days at 5.) Then would drink an energy drink at lunch, then empty a 2 liter bottle of Pepsi before 4pm.Get home from work and start in on a 2 liter of Mt Dew. Stayed in the bathroom almost as long as I wasnt in it. Heart started missing beats, light headed, short of breath, and thought at one point i had a heart attack. Spend 3 days in hospital from the caffeine OD. I may slip a cup of decaf in once a month or so, but other than that, its water, or something without caffeine in it.

2 pots of coffee, an energy drink, 2 liters of Pepsi, and 2 liters of Mountain Dew. Your poor kidneys and bladder. Even if it had all been caffeine free you would have been spending a lot of time in the bathroom.

Years ago I was having 2-3 cans (12oz) of Coke at work and none on weekends. On Monday mornings I would feel really bad with a headache. It finally occurred to me that I was suffering withdrawal symptoms. I started carrying a can of caffeine free Coke or a root beer in my lunch to cut back on caffeine and the problem went away.

Wow, the darned sugar in these is incredible,+ minerals/kidney stones are a concern, never thought of caffeine/withdrawals etc. I always liked a coca cola every so often in a frosty glass, same with root beer, out of a glass bottle, even better out of the old school fountain across the road at the dairy bar, (old school diner thats been here since the 30's) in continuous operation since, they had the old coke fountains in operation for a long time, was always a treat) Diet never appealed to me, hate all of it. I will admit to being a poland spring junky, and our well water is certainly very good as well, best thing for you.

Don't like coffee and don't drink it, but i have problems with good southern sweet tea, about 1/2 sweet and 1/2 unsweet. Too much too often makes me jittery and give me stomach pains.

Yeah, me too. I drink a cup at night just before I go to bed. Seems like it is easier to get started in the morning. Will slack off a little when it gets to 100 degrees, but mostly drink coffee all day.

Never drank it-but have to have orange juice and have to eat breakfast. If I don't eat, I get jittery and won't last an hour. Mark

part of my morning routine - I don't feel right until I have one or two cups.

I continue through the day until the pot runs dry or I run out of those stupid little k-cups in the one cup brewer thing.

It's the only thing that keeps me going - my work has the opposite effect.

It all balances out.

1 cup in the AM AFTER I get to work (cream & sugar). On the weekends, I make a pot 1st thing with breakfast, nothing after that. Wife will drink 2 cups in the AM on the weekends. Wife and I never drink coffee with a meal, but my inlaws (in their 80's) ALWAYS have coffee (black) with their meals when we go out. I think it's a generational thing.

(quoted from post at 08:46:42 05/07/14) Just wondering how many of you start the day with coffe? I quit drinking it about 2 years ago but have a terrible craving for the tast again. Might fall of the wagon.

When I'm working (running a fuel tanker), I usually grab a 20 oz. coffee from a convenience store along the road in the first couple hours of my day, and later on in the night I'll grab another. And on my runs to Grande Cache, I'll hang out at the bulk plant for a while drinking coffee. Lately though I've started cutting back, been having lots of problems with acid reflux, and I feel better with less coffee.

Three fourths of a pot a day. Right now I'm enjoying coffee with chicory I got in N'ahlins. There's only about five day's worth left. Looks like I'm gonna have to make another trip south. Jim

At least 2 or 3 in the morning, BLACK and strong. Used to drink it all day long when I was on the road. Get headaches without it sometimes.

Some say it's bad for you, I don't really know. Don't drink, never smoked, don't chase women or spend a lot of money on garbage. Don't drink hardly any soda either or eat candy or other sweets. I guess coffee is a pretty tame vice.

every morning
occasionally during the day, company or something.

Like most things, I don't worry about the 'it's bad for you' stuff.
Usually comes full circle...first it's bad poison, then they admit that in moderation, some are good for you.
take your pick
coffee
eggs
aspirin
alcohol....drink'n, not in your gas tank :)
etc, etc, etc
