Welded alot of pipe with on just like it until guy backed a dozer over the engine. The MOST important thing is never use a grinder on high speed ther should be a sticker on it tell you that, it puts out way more that 120 volts on high and will burn your grinder up. Check the holes you plug the stinger into and make sure they are clean. also check the stinger and ground and make sure they are not breaking down in the lead or in the clamps. The one I used was a great machine until the track ate it.

Thanks for the reply ya there a switch and also 3 different throttle settings on it for welding and power .dumb question what is good to clean the plugs with? Emery cloth?

Checkout Millers web site and download a manual if you haven"t done so already. That said, they usually have pretty good manuals in regard to having electrical schematics, and troubleshooting for most common problems. Good luck.

I can't help you with the electrics but I have that same machine. I bought it used in 1981 and have put many hours on it. Replaced the engine once. I'll probably keep it forever.

They make a small wire beush that you use on the end of a drill should clean up inside there real good and emery cloth would be good for the outside

Well I.cleaned the plugs both male and female and still will only weld for about an inch and then it stops . I read in the manual that your are supposed to wrap the cable ends with copper foil and I didn't do that so I guess I'll try that next
