'67 706 turbo(310). 'Crankin' 96 horse. turbo was adapted from a 560(D282). Tractor has over 11,000 hrs. This is the tractor I started over with in '84,after the bank sold me out.I was26 years old. So,I not only started once, but TWICE! I guess I just like to farm.Or a complete idiot!....Steve

Steve, I just drove out to California with my Daughter and grandkids (military move) and saw a number of guys out with those things all through the west and especially in the Ca. vegetable valley.

i've always been impressed on how level the fields i see passing by are and wondered how they got it so nice. do those things have GPS on em ? i guess my question is how does it work ?

DeltaRed, As an old High Plains Row water Guy We had and old Eversman Camel-Back Land Plane. We traded it off for a 50ft X 12 Holcomb Land Plane. Made at Holcomb Ks.
That eversman can Load the pi$$ out of 150 horses, faster than a cat can lick its A$$!! Nice older rig!! That is the way, one gets a field Flat!

Jenn, the land plane is kind of a 'glotified' box
blade. It is kind of like a bridge.the long span will
'bridge' a low place and drop some dirt to fill.A
high spot will get ,sheared' off and get carryed to
the low place. it is hinged in the middle and front
to assist in turning.40 ft is a bit long to turn on
ends.I like to carry about a half 'bucket' of
dirt.Have enough dirt to fill holes, and enough room
to carry dirt from the high spots.

Yep,when it gets ahold of a high spot,it will make him snort.I had the wheels hopping and the smoke rollin a couple times today.

The new ones have GPS...But my GPS is a tree/fence
post/power pole...... on the horizon.LOL After
all,the 'ole seven' is almost 50 years old,the land
plane isnt much younger.....

so you eye ball it ? more pics please :)

I've often thought of how nice it would be to have the dips filled from the high spots and the depressions filled in in my fields. Of course the reasons the dip and high spots are there is because of ledge rock and there isn't a land plane int he world that will level marble and granite.

I have a friend that has one very similar to yours, he purchased it in Arkansas, had to cut the front off it to haul it home to Michigan, then sleeve it back together, it is one of the slickest land levelers in our area though, does a great job.
