Getting concerned about lack of rain. I know parts of Tx have been in a drought for a while, but looks like Dallas may be headed that way.

News last night said it was the 3rd driest start of a year on record and the records go back over 100 yrs.

We are 8 inches below normal for rainfall and 12 degrees above normal in temp.

Rain forecast for Thursday. Sure hope we get a good soaking.

ca is way behind too. rainy season is over this year, so all we can do is cross our fingers for rain next year. supposed to have el-nino next year so i guess we'll see. good luck

Wish I could share some of our moisture with those of you in dry areas. There has been a -little- tillage done around here in the sandy areas; none where the soil is heavier (most areas here) If we had another 4-5 dry, sunny days, I think I could start on 1 or 2 fields, but the forecast is for rain tomorrow, Thurs., and Sat.

We're 2.57 inches short for YTD, but that's a lot considering that our annual rainfall average is 6.5 inches. There will be water shortages here because the mountain areas barely got any snow at all during the winter, so no runoff into the reservoirs. Fire danger is high; currently have 3 forest fires going in the state, with a high probability for more fires. There hasn't been any lightning in the state, so the fires are caused by humans (stupid campers).

For the first 4 months of 2014 we have had a grand total of 2" of rain here in Central Texas. 2011 was the worst year for the drought, 2012 and 2013 were a little wetter. Now we are starting off 2014 as the driest year ever. It's not looking good down here.

Here in N Central Texas too. 2 lakes our only source of usable water are at a combined 25% capacity. Very good chance that could run out this summer....Then what? We need lots of rain badddd...

I was just thinking, what we both need is a large pipe from TX to N MN. Now we could send you some of our surplus water and in the winter you could send us some warm air back.

I'm ready for more rain in SC, nothing showing for
this week. We missed all that rain and tornados
that FL and other areas had last week. Not a bad
deal.

Sure wish we could send all of you some rain.

Finally drying out enough for the farmers to work ground yesterday afternoon and today - but we have rain moving in again. Looks like a replay of last year... cold, wet spring.

Nancy, Was listen-en to Chris Krok, on WBAP this afternoon talking about watering and water use restrictions in the D-FW area this afternoon. Just how low Lake Ray Hubbard and other North Texas lakes are! We are just as Low if not more So!
I Really DO Not Think Folks in the parts Farther North Truly understand Just how dire the Texas Water Issue is. **Note** Not to appear Rude BUT, If I hear how hard the Midwest had it 2 summers ago I will scream till I am Hoarse. That would be a small speed bump to us here!!
Yesterday I really appreciated your post back to me about being dry here at my place I will gladly take 2 to 12 inches right NOW if it starts today. Every corner of the state is in some sort of water problem issue! there is no exceptions.
There are roughly 7000 people every week, that
make Texas their New Home, 1000 go to the D-FW area alone. Where will we get the water to supply these folks with drinking water
Anyway, Yes We are in real hurt right now!
Later,
John A.

I sure wish I could send you some of our moisture around here(N.C.OHIO)I would make a trade even up lol.getting in to the fields is a little tough but we're doing it.some anyways...
