Guy selling an HR 15 with about 3000 hrs and new motor. I have heard horror stories about parts.

1 Is this a good machine?
2 Can I get parts?
3 Any other thoughts?

Thank you!

Should be able to get parts from Jake. I believe the HR15 is based on the HF15/F10 design but with rotary mowing units rather than reels. The HF15 was the most advanced large acreage hyd. driven reel mower made but that was in the late 70's/80's. Do you have lots of grass to cut and what kind of price would be my questions? Should be a proven and pretty reliable drive train but much bulkier than something like a Toro 580D. Don't know much about the mower units.

I have one and many parts are obsolete. Parts that wear frquently are the drive pulley bearings, the splines on the hydraulic drive motors and pulley couplers and spindle bearings.
Some hydraulic deck motors on the older machines are obsolete but can be converted to common brand, Cross.

I have about 15 acres to mow and an 8 foot mower takes too long. Do you feel this is a good machine? Guy wants 5000 for the unit. Thank you!

The HR15 cuts very nicely. I use mine to cut around 30 acres of horse paster with the deck height set at 5 inches. The deck can be as low as 1.5 inches I believe. If your ground is smooth, you can cut in 2nd gear. You will reduce the cutting time at least in half if not more.
If the machine is feild-ready needing nothing, $5,000 is in the ball-park. The HR15 is a high-maintence machine, with many moving/pivoting points. I just refurbushed mine, spending about $1,500 replacing all the spindle bearings, 2 hydraulic motors, pump coupler, changing the fluids/filters.
Check the machine over well. Test drive it. The Perkins diesel is a work horse but it does not like to start below 50 degrees outside, unless it is in a garage.
