adhesive remover

3M makes a good adhesive remover. You can get it from a body supply shop. I have used lacquer thinner but don't like it as well as adhesive remover.

Skin and protection and fresh air is a MUST with that stuff, at least the formulations of a few years back were.

My son was careless some years back and it darned near killed him.

He had been removing adhesive left by trim strips on a pickup without gloves, in an enclosed garage, and we came home to find him disoriented and severely short of breath.

Think the newer stuff is a citrus formulation, though.

i removed the strips off my van when i first got it last yr and the only thing i could get to really work was acetone. use outside, it ate every kind of glove i tried, use a soft cloth because paper towels will scratch the surrounding areas. i had to use a lot of rubbing compound elbow grease and wax to get the scratches out.

We use a 3m eraser wheel. It is a rubber wheel thebmounts on a drill and it rubs the adhesive off, it will also remove pin stripes and lettering. Then follow up with a wax and grease remover. Ie prep sol type product.

Maybe not the best, but peanut butter does a pretty good job. And you usually have that handy around the house.

Warm it up with a hairdryer, peel off what you can, then use generous amounts of common, ordinary rubbing alcohol to get rid of the sticky stuff.

Bob, that stuff heads straight for the liver. We used to use a Barsol solvent that was made up of everything that would dissolve virtually anything that would 'melt' any adhesive made that wasn't catalyzed. Quit using it when OSHA pointed out the error of our ways. (No Penalty)
