We have a white mower its a smaller ridr 42 we bought it not running right we've done everything we can think and are about to take it some where. The problem is it has no idle now as soon as it starts it runs as fast as it can and you can't change it any ideas? Any help is appreciated

Sounds like the governor linkage may be stuck or froze up. You might spray it with gum out and clean it and get it free. Tommy

Could be one of several problems.

If the carb has been off, the throttle/governor linkage may have been incorrectly connected. The throttle plate shaft should be linked directly to the governor arm. The governor arm will have a spring attached to the speed control lever, (the lever that is moved by the throttle cable). The spring pulls the throttle plate open, the governor weights pull it closed.

If it's been sitting awhile, and was running before, the throttle shaft may be stuck in the open position. Spray some rust penetrant on the shaft and linkage, work it by hand until it moves free.

Or the governor weights may be broken. This is the most serious problem. The crankcase will have to be opened to replace the gear/weight assy.

Also check for a vacuum leak, as in the carb bolts loose, gasket missing, sucked in, etc.
