A year ago Jen was in Afghanistan and went before the promo board for E-6. This month she went back on her second deployment, and got pinned with her Staff Sgt stripes on Thursday. Next month she"ll have 5 years in the Army. (now outranks hubby).

Congratulations to her. The boards get a little tougher from here on out, but congratulations just the same. I'm proud of her. And by the way, when you get a chance, thank her for my family, friends, neighbors, nation, and myself. You just made my day. It was getting a little soured from below.

I was at the Deere guy this AM, got some filters and 5 gallons of hydraulic fluid. He's a bit salty on his hydraulic fluid. $75 for 5 gallons. Hey, I could have went to TSC or Farm and Fleet, but I'll make it up elsewhere. And...they said we'd barely crack 50 degrees here in northern Indiana, and its T-shirt warm out there. Good day for tractor maintenance.

Have a good day, and don't forget to thank your daughter for helping make my day possible.

I read awhile back where they were letting sergeants out because they had too many, so she must be good.

JMS,

Congrats to SSgt. Dau. E-6 in 5 years is particularly good in today's environment.

Thanks to her and to her family for the sacrifice.

(Just barely E-5 in 4 years when things were rocking and rolling)

Army is being cut several divisions worth, most of the airborne cuts are in 82nd and 101st. She"s in Special Ops at JFK Center, where rank is usually fast. In SF we couldn"t get promoted during training- I had 20 months of training and made E4 at 21 months, E5 at 26 months.

Back in the 60's I knew a SFC E-7 22 years old. This guy was sharp, no doubt about it. It also helps being at the right place at the right time.

That is good news. Sounds like she is moving up fast. As a motor Sgt. I never got past E5 for long. Never could keep my mouth shut around officers.
