Having a bit of Scotsman in me I like to get as much wear out of something before replaciing it. Actually, these were on a free 5 ft Servis rotary mower (shredder) I got a few years ago. It cuts like a lawnmower now.

I do not think I've ever seen a set of these worn like that, you got your moneys worth LOL ! Were they still balanced and the mower smooth when the pto was engaged ?

no, they were far from balanced and were badly bent until I straightened them. I ran it over a few acres then decided it was time for replacements ($78). it's a tribute to Servis that the gearbox still runs smoothly after the abuse these blade gave it.

That's impressive.

Though - its' kinda like how I wear my boots. I don't buy new ones till the old ones actually fall off.

And yes, I'm part Scottish.

Thats the thing, once bent or just unbalanced, I don't like running them in fear of other problems, but I'll bet you notice such a difference with new ones, I sure did, mine is an old Rhino, (Servis) and that gearbox still holds the lube, no leaks yet and its been in my hands 12 years now, I'll flop er over, check everything this year, last year I did not, just checked the lube in the gearbox, they seem to be tough mowers, mines seen a few larger round rocks and its own tail wheel, darned 50 cent pin fell out or broke. Instinct tells me not to take chances with these, I think I've got 7 years on the last set of blades so far, and they are beat up a little, but still balanced, and the only reason I have not changed them again.

Having a little Scot heritage in me too and I have to say, if you are done with those I'll take em cause I can see all kinds of things to use them on. Make good back up plates and stiffeners, weld em on to sumpin else and get more life out of em.. could also hang em from a couple of chains and let the wind make pretty music from em.. haha. all kinds of things.
