Garden hose end and repair fittings

Every year I end up with a dozen or so damaged garden hoses. some even get cut to make a siphon hose!these are not dryrotted, but damaged or abused. Fittings from the Ace are expensive. Is there a bulk supplier of ends and splices? We have spliced with tubing, but they are expensive when you figure in the clamps. Any reliable farmer fixes for the splices that WORK?

Just bit the bullet and bought several repair ends at Wally for ~$3.25 ea. (male or female). They are a two piece cast aluminum/two screw clamp type that appear to work well. Lowes had them at ~$5.50 ea./Big Lots @ ~$5.00 ea. TSC had worthless plastic clamp type. Getting so the "fix" costs more than the hoses did!

I bought Craftsman hoses
those big black rubber ones with the heavy metal ends

every once in a while i swap one out for a new one

Tell me about the cost;to repair all of them would cost as much as 4-5 new hoses. Just hate to throw away something useful.....i'm cheap too.

I bought a 3/4 hose end from true value hardware for 11.98. The next day in menards I saw it was 4.74.

I tried for several years to use the metal ends, and I don't know if it was "junk hardware" or my lack of ability, but they always leaked. I finally gave up and went to the plastic repair ends, I'll be danged, but they don't leak. One for the modern world!

A piece of 1/2" copper pipe about 2 inches long and 2 hose clamps. If it's a 5/8" garden hose, the copper pipe will slide up into it with a little effort.

On the subject, of damaged garden hoses, I have proven, to my own satisfaction, that those brass ends that connect them, have a strange magnetic attraction, for rubber tires, Invaribly two hoses or more connected togeather, will have the brass connectors smashed flat, from traffic, that never enters the area, at any other time.
