Just about burned up my chipper

I have a old chipper driven by a ford industrial v8. I didn't realize leaves were building up around the exhaust pipe. Next thing I know the tire next to the muffler is in flames. Only thing available was a fork, the guy helping me Managed to get the fire out by removing the sticks, and leaves. I felt helpless with nothing to work with. Only thing damaged was the tire. It poped from the fire. Let me tell you I was a little scared for a few minutes. A fire extinguisher will with me next time. I had a tractor catch fire onetime, and had a extinguisher available. and put out the fire on that one. Fires scare me. Stan
 
Crazy how little it takes to make a believer out of a guy. That was your cardiac exercise for the day. Glad it all turned out good.
 
I have had to snuffy smith quite a few welder slag fires. You know, the sprinkler system that we all have built in. Problem is is that the system pressure has dropped, over the years...
 
I was working on a skidsteer and was having trouble with the carb. It backfired and caught on fire. I freeked. Luckly my Dad who was there, grabbed the extinguisher and put it out.
 
I have a water extinguisher on my tractor. While mowing I have started three fires, neither of them got out of control. It does happen. Stan
 
I am not a fireman or any kind of fire safety expert but I have three in the kitchen one in the stairwell.Two in the barn,and one large one for where I weld in the outer basement. Lacking in the vehicles but reading your post will probably get more.[I do have a small one in my car trunk. I like the ones with the chrome tanks [but all mine are red]. Something you can't have enough of.
 
After my BIL burnt an AC 8070 last fall I have put extinguishers on everything plus the house and shop.

Guess I didn't have to find out by wizzing on that ole fence.
