white 2-155 losing anti freeze

The 155 is now a dedicated manure pump tractor. It hasn't run since fall. After checking all the fluids I started it the other day and the antifreeze started to run out of the radiator almost immediately. I thought that maybe it was just over full, but today iy was doing the same thing. Anybody got any ideas as to why I can't keep the radiator full? There is about 1,000,000 gallons of poo to pump.

Well it sounds like you have an internal engine problem. It could be just a head gasket, a cracked head, or cavitation in one of the sleeves. It really does not make much difference as the motor will have to be torn down to repair any of the most likely causes.

Now the bad news. That tractor has a Hercules
motor in it. I have had trouble finding reasonable priced overhaul kits for White tractors in the past. Now RRuland says that you can find the kits aftermarket now. When I overhauled the few I have done you had to go to White/Agco for the kits. The parts ran right at $8-10K, fifteen years ago. It seems that there are aftermarket kits now.

The trouble for you is two fold: 1) You need to pump soon before planting. 2) The cost of an overhaul on a tractor that may not be worth the cost.

It sounds like the tractor has other problems if your just going to use it to run a lagoon pump. You might be better off to trade/sell it for another better tractor.

Yes, the whites were reliable power when they were newer, but anymore are quirky and tough to keep running. I tried to trade it about 4 different times but no one wanted it even 10 years ago. I don't want to put a bunch of $ into a hercules. I do have a cummins 5.9 out of a truck. Is this a viable option? I have heard that they will bolt up to the bell housing. Anyone know if this is true.

Ya can fix it with either factory parts or after market parts and spend big bucks or ya can do like we did on the 2150 Oliver and suck the herc out and set in a 8.3 cummins . If it is not ft. wheel assit No mod.s needed just a type two bellhousing and a new flywheel from white agco (1000 Bucks ) four motor mounts and maybe a couple other small pieces and parts and it is a done deal. Just find and 8.3 with a rear sump oil pan . If it is a ft wheel assit then you have to make mods to the oil pan and pick up tube Our total cost for the trans plant was just under five grand including the engine . we went from around 135-145 Hp to 209 Hp.

Head gasket. It's just a matter of tracking down which head. They use 2 three cylinder heads if my short memory serves me right.
