For loosening rusty parts it is a lot better. It soaks in before it evaporates. Not so good for drying wet wires and lubricating plastic parts.

Well WD40 is a water displacement fluid that dries out to near nothing. It temporarily stpos leaks and has smell, but it is assuredly not a rust penetrant.
PB blaster is a penetrant (pretty good in my opinion. ZEP, Kroil, Liquid Wrench, PLS LST, and a mix of acetone and ATF work well. WD does have a different product that they sell as a penetrant, No experience, no comment. Jim

WD20 is not "garbage." Works great for what it's
made for . Started out as "water displacer version
20" for the military. Was never intended as a rust
cutter.

I have very good luck with WD-40, but I pretty much limit my use of it to what it is made for. I use various other products for penetrating oil.

I keep a can of WD-40 in my shop all the time. I put kindling in the heater and spray some on it and throw a match on it. Starts fires and that is all it is good for.

better than wd for stuck rusted frozen stuff ,,. no one mentioned to keep pb blaster away from electrical wires and switches ,, seems like it eats the conductivity too

PB works well for me as a penetrant, but it may take a day or so of repeated applications to get the job done. WD40 leaves a waxy film behind and should not be used to lubricate any small mechanism (like a lock) that will be exposed to the cold. The film gets stiff and small parts get bound up.

Don't like WD40 it's not really a pentrating oil. PB Blaster is not bad but I like Deep Creep better.

That ain't exactly true. If the catfish are biting slow, spray your bait with WD-40. It's mostly fish oil and makes a good fish attractant.

My rule of thumb is PB Blaster for everything that's supposed to moved but doesn't and duct tape for everything that's supposed to not move but does.
I also like Kroil.

Wd40 can be a good hand cleaner forgot that one. And I've never heard about spraying it on fish bait.

The original PB Blaster is not a penetrating oil. It's a solvent to liquify old lube. It said so on the can. It works as good as most other stuff on rusty things. WD40 isn't a penetrant or lube either and works about as good as PB or 3-1 oil. ATF and acetone work better than either for penetrating and lubing.

That being said, you can usually find WD40, PB, Liquid Wrench and what ever else I happen to pick up on my bench. It's all better than warm spit.

I wonder where this thing about fish oil comes from. You see it is also supposed to be in paint. I searched the first three pages of google and the only use given is as a dietary supplement.

PB works ok, I like it because it is in pretty much every store you walk into.
Keep your WD40, you'll need it for other jobs.
and some spray carb cleaner, brake cleaner, ether, spray green/purple cleaner, oven cleaner...... :D

For loosening rusted stuff might as well use water instead of PB Blaster. PB dries up and turns sticky. Liquid Wrench is one of the best easy to find penetrating oils. BG Product"s In Force is another good one.
