What smart phone do you have?

I'm seriously considering getting rid of my landline, isp, and desktop because windows XP is junk.

My Cell, landline and isp cost me about $80. What smart phone would you recommend? I have to stay with verizon. What does your smart phone cost?

I need a phone that can handle dust, dirt, a little abuse and humidity. Love to have a loud ringer.

we have a LG and we use tmobil 40 bucks a mo. i don't like paying 40.00 a mo, but i like the smart phone, a lot of cool apps.

I put my iphone thru alot, and it never failed, but to use a smartphone, through Verizon, its going to cost more than 80 bucks! I grew tired of Apple telling me what MY phone was going to look like, so I got a Samsung G4, and if I can help, the only Apple product I am going to have is a Mac. (When I can afford the one I want!)

I have an apple iPhone 4gs, on AT&T and I love it. I don't even touch the pucker anymore. 4gb, data and 2000 texts, divided by 2 for my wife and I to use, about $120 a month, or I think it was $780 apiece. My wife has the iPhone 5s that works on the faster LTE network, mine only works on 4g or wifi. We're both happy with them.

I have IPhone 4GS with an Otter box case. It withstands all kinds of abuse. The phone is all I have here on the ranch, no landline. So I use it for email & net access and pictures. Works great for me, all I need to do now is get a printer that will work with the IPhone.

Whatever one you get get an Otterbox for it. Though there is a new waterproof shock resistant case out, can't remember the name. Don't use laptop much anymore. Always on the road, please is another 5-6 lbs I don't have to lug around. Samsung Galaxy S4 is what I have.

I have a iphone 4S.Works well.I don't need the latest and greatest.I still have a land line in the house.

I have this HP Printer and I have it connected to my wireless network for printing from my computers. But I can also print from my iphone. The printer will also act as a peer to peer connection if needed to communicate with it. You would join its network just like any other wireless network.
Using it with a computer you can scan and fax I am not sure if you can scan or fax from your phone.

Consumer Cellular; Motorola (google) MOTO G, android. Phone is $150. Wife and I share 500 minutes, 500 text msgs, and 50MB (low) of Data. I use wifi wherever I go so data usage is minimal. Monthly bill for both line is under $50. Additional lines are $10/month. They have lots of plan levels for different usage levels, and you can change plans any time. I used a lot of minutes and text messages this month, so moved up one level. Will change back next week when the billing cycle rolls over. GREAT phone, good battery life.

Casio G'zone Commando II 4G is what I have, shock proof, dust proof and water proof up to 3 meters for a half hour if I remember correctly. It has a loud ringer and has a ring/vibrate mode as well. So far I'm pleased with it but it has given a couple issues but I think it was more of a Verizon problem than the phone itself and I say that because it spends more time connected to 3G than 4G. Pricewise I think it was around $100 with the contract, its provided to me through work so I cant say on the cost per month for the plan I have. The rep at the store sold me a screen protector that almost a year later I have yet to scratch, she told me it was tough and had a lifetime warranty. Lastly I opted for a rubberized body glove hard case that protects the back and sides of the phone, I didn't really need it but it has ridges/bumps/extra traction lol that make it fit nice in my hand and make it not so slippery.

IPhone 5 in an 'Otter box'. I have actually broken the Otter Box case, and the phone was fine! I am a carpenter so abuse is easy to come by! We have Verizon here, 4 lines, just over $240.00-so around $60.00 per line!

I think the new case youre takling about is called lifeproof. Girlfriend just got one, and shes already tested its underwater capabilities. Phone still works!

I've had a BB Torch for 2 years. It's the best phone I've had by a long shot... I keep it in an OtterBox. I don't know that I'd call it a replacement for a laptop tho. It's reasonably quick if you can find Wi-Fi somewhere but otherwise the browser can be clunky. I find it works in a pinch, it's great for F_B and things like that but the keyboard is a bit small for my fat fingers... I'd probably buy another tomorrow if I needed one.
Cost here is about 80 bucks a month for phone, good data plan, decent airtime package and 10 'anywhere in canada' always free phone numbers.
No idea what kind of deal Verizon will have...

I have a Motorola Android v4.0.4 With AT+T. A VERY few things that I like better than my old flip phone. I can hear better unless the side buttons are hit. But really I wish I had never wasted my money on the piece of crap. I try to shut it off once every week or two for upgrades. It usually losses my voicemail number. I have to charge it everyday and do not use it that much. If you like to push buttons like all this electronic stuff, this is phone to buy. I do NOT text or take pictures. Big waste of money. When my contract runs out, it will be something else.

Motorola Droid "M" [ for mini ] so it fits in my pocket. I have Verizon. $40. I have a small protective case on it. I've had it almost two years, and like it.

Samsung Galaxy I have had it for 90 days so far its took a lick'n and keep on tic'n... The phone cost me nuttin and they paid the upgrade fee... Well I did pay for it but they sent me a visa gift card for the amount I paid... I also got otter holder and the insurance that gives me a free in store replacement,,, of course theirs a high deductible... Why I went that way is I can write the cost of the shontz off and the deductible if I need it...

I have been thru the send back and repair its a rip off... I pay my bill by check every mo. There is no way I will allow a phone co. to draft my account...

glennster,
I use the original palm pilot. It's my left palm and a sharpie. Deleats in about a day or two, depending on how many times I wash my hands.

I phone 5's for us. Wife and I both have them as we also use iPads. Illinois no longer allows driving and using the phone so the I phones on the gmc's blue tooth works well for hands free. We are 60 plus years old so not too into this stuff but it works good for us

Two of my kids and their spouses have the smart phones & the other one has an actual phone like me. The two with smart phones go through at least two per person per year & still they tell me and their sister how great they are and how we should upgrade. No thanks. I prefer an actual telephone that actually works and stays that way year in and year out. I don't believe there's a smart phone out there they haven't tried and they're all duds.

1947 western electric desk set with delux carbon hand set only up-grade its had is moduler plugs installed and the 1960 clear plastic dial
have a wall phone just like it
in the shop .

have motorola photon which i like. but am switching to att (ihave a 4g lte att tower on property) so i ordered a samsung s4 active. suppostobe water proof and dust proof, we'll see

Apple's iPhone. I have an older iPhone 4, bought it on Craigslist, so I didn't have to sign a 2 year contract. I think Apple is a little easier to use, designed better, they pay attention to details.

I [b:21b3c60c37]HAD[/b:21b3c60c37] a really nice post written but TPTB wouldn't let it post. So, the short version. You want to stay with Verizon, ok. They have the Galaxy S5 that is water resistant to 3' for 1 hour, with a 5.1" Gorilla Glass screen - $200 with contract. The Galaxy S4 is 'last year's model' with a removable battery for $100 with contract. One of my son's got rid of his Iphony 5 for an S4 and likes it. The Moto X is FREE with contract. You get protective case for most phones.

verizon here
my old mobileweb non-smart phone works for me,
but my son, grandson, and daughter-in-law have pretty much tried them all.
They finally stopped when they got I-phones.
Daughter-in-law and grandson(10) love them.
My son who is a steelworker leaves his in his truck because
he thinks it is more delicate than his old 'indestructible' model dumb phone.

(quoted from post at 17:26:15 04/10/14) I don't have a cell phone--much too annoying to be interrupted and a slave to phone calls!!

That is what voice mail is for and muting the ringer.
I use my phone for my convenience not for the convenience of others.
