getting into tractors

Was driving lawn mowers when I was big enough to push the clutch in. Was driving tractors in the field at age 10. Started my first restoration at age 14.

I started on lawn mowers to then last year was the first year I drove a tractor by myself I would love to restore s tractor but don't have the money

Probably when I sat on my daddy's tractor all by myself at age one. That one 'event' has affected me for life!

I wached the dealer unload a shiny 53 SuperH (before I could read) and load our 10-20 Onto the flatbed. I thought it was Christmas. Jim

When I drove an A JD with a disc by myself. I had to push the clutch in with my foot and release it by putting both feet on the light bar and both hands on the lever.

I was/am into mechanical things.
My 1st 'tractor' was a 2WD ATV that did way more than it was supposed to do till I needed to be able to do more.

"Elbow-Grease" is where you start..!

Just get a good starter tractor and start tending to it, clean it up, check it over and learn..would be helpful if it did run when you buy it..!

I wanted a tractor to work 6 acres and a large garden.

I wanted new equipment but sure couldn't justify the cost.

I started with a $500 Farmall Super C with fast hitch. I now have 2 SC's with 11 fast hitch implements. A 55 300, 53 & 54 Super H's. It grew into a hobby. I have far less in all these Farmalls that the new Deere I priced.

I started driving the 8N when I was 8 years old, so that means that I've been on & off tractors for 71 years now. Drove, them, overhauled them and sold new tractors for the manufacturers. Just like tractors.

ive always been into them, some of the ones we restore today were the ones i grew up driving

Ive been around tractors all my life,H,Ford 2000,Farmall 350,and several others. And when my father would work on these machines I would always help. When the bug hit me and I started hearing the word antique,I thought I should work on a tractor older than I grew up on

I got into tractors when grandfather bought some ground in the country in Ont Canada in 1970 when I was 8 and the 47 2n was part of the deal I now have the 2n and have had it for 20+ yrs it needs some tlc soon before it gets too far gone ut the plan is in the works as soon as time and money allow

Kinda obvious,.i grew up on a farm, city expanded, farm got smaller as a result.not enough work left to warrant the cost of keeping a horse around. Horse got sold. We needed something to pull the hay wagons. Dad was old fashioned and not very mechanical so at age 12 I bought an old Allis B that needed TLC , I fixed her up , that's how it all started.
