Front cultivators

I'm setting up a one row front cultivator and wondering what everyone is using as the distance between the first 2 shanks that straddle the row

I start narrow with shields on and then widen as needed and finally remove the shields, I let er rip through the sweet corn to hill it up last pass through. I use one side of a two row and also have the rears on to cover and dig the tire tracks, reverse direction every time and it does a nice job. Run through every thing until it gets too tall or too wide.

Set them any way you like it all depends on soil conditions and how much dirt you want to move if shallow no problem if plowing deep need more distance.
