My son got 100 acres of corn in the ground in the last 2 days. Almost all no till using 90 HP Kubota and a modified JD 7000 planter. Moisture was good.

We have corn planted here in Missouri too. Since the planting 7 inches of rain and 27 degrees here this a.m.

Congratulations!

The radio says we got ten inches of new snow last night in central MN. It doesn't look like it was that much but there was a lot of wind. The ground is still frozen so corn planting is many weeks away here.

It's too wet to plow the garden here in ne MD. I did pull the snow blade attachment off my garden tractor. I also had a front tire leaking around the bead. I broke the bead on both sides and poured dish detergent on the bead. Then aired it up and seems to be ok. I was looking for rust, but I didn't see any. It never sits out in the weather. Hal
PS: I have my tomato plants started and they're looking good. We can have frost here up until May. I usually plant several out using the "Wall of Water" around them. The water gets warm when the sun is out and keeps them from freezing at night.

Here's that "Wall of Water" I use. Hal

Depends how it swelled up or not. Those temps and conditions aren't that unusual around here.

In 3 more weeks.

Got 6-8 inches of snow last nite. I believe the frost is still 4 feet deep in spots, but we do t worry about that so much any more, if the top foot thaws out we seem to get going if its dry.

Here in SE SD we say that you have to plant early; if you are going to replant! But in 42 years of farming, I don"t ever remember replanting corn.

Can harvest in late August or September. Try to let moister get close to 15%. Not that hard to do with our heat in August.

Its time to plant corn. most guys plan on starting Monday. our insurance date, here in SE Nebraska, is really April 10th but a guy can fudge a little. replanting corn because of cold is almost a thing of the past with the new hybrids. I always plant 3in deep. we have such hot weather in July and August that you want corn, especially dryland, up as quick as possible. ground temp really don't mean much if you plant by the calendar, because the days get longer.

I got mud and 30* in SEC Illinois and you guys found a place to plant corn?

This isn't a late April Fools joke?

Every time I plant corn in wet cool soil the seed rots.

I really think soil temp should be above 60 to get good germination, cold and wet seems to rot the seed.

See you in 2 weeks. My wife and I will be at the Clemson invite rowing meet on Lake Hartwell watching our youngest daughter. It'll be too cold here to even think about planting corn.

Where in Iowa are you John?
We have friends in eastern Iowa. Email me if you want to. We are 15 minutes from Clemson. I graduated there and retired from there.

My email is open in the first post.

I plowed tater ground, last week, maybe I will drop some in, on Sunday. Way too cold for corn, here in central MD!

My taters are trying to pop through. I have a slight crust on top and may have to scratch it a little.

Yesterday I went to Waterloo IA and saw one fellow out putting down anhydrous with a big new Deere 4X4.He was on his second pass and it looked to wet but maybe he has few thousand acers to do.

The only crop we are working with here is maple syrup. We are down to a foot of snow in the woods now, as compared to 3 ft a couple of weeks ago. The hill tops of the fields are now bare ..............
