Spring is coming here, we have some bare ground on south facing slopes but most flat ground is still under a foot or so.

I've got fertilizer on the way for the hayfield and pasture, been dry here for a week and a half but sosed to rain this afternoon. Thought that would get some precip started!!

I remember planting wheat and it started to snow; I kept going until it was snowing so much that it was filling the marker furrow and I couldn't see if I was leaving any skips. Wheat came up when the snow melted and it was a good crop.

The spring of 1950 was an unusual late and wet spring in ND; most farmers didn't get in the fields until Memorial Day. An old timer told my Dad: "Don't worry about the crop; I've never seen a crazy year that I didn't come out okay and make money." And that is the way the crop turned out that fall.

Sheeesh, just won't give up this year. I think we are due to get blasted again going into the weekend - with northern MN possibly getting a foot or more.

I remember those spring-loaded IH disk wings. My uncle nearly lost his head when we dropped the gang off one. I got to disking at night so I didn't have to fold up, the one time I saw that someone was coming I backed the disk off the road, saved a ton of time. Dad didn't like it, but I don't know how much he liked getting me out of the field at 3AM so I could sleep a little before school, either.
