John Deere Model 30 combine, Free
HI,
Been awhile since I been on here.
Hope all are doing well.
I have a question, I'm in Illinois,
I just traded scrap for scrap,
waitin for ground to get firm,
John Deere Model 30 (I think)pull behind (pto) combine.
Its been stored for years or decades in a barn.
I'm interested in donating this to anyone
that can give it its respect, unless these are a dime
a dozen. Its all there and not rusted out, as I'm told,
yet won't roll. Maybe just flats.
I don't need tax write off, H with that,
I just don't have indoor storage for it,
and hoping somebody is interested.
Has to be lifted up onto a trailer,
but I may take care of that quick.
If interested or know of someone/group,
not sure how soon, within a couple months,
but I would gladly donate rather than clean my
lean-to out to store it.
No, I'm sorry, no pics
By the way, yes I'm still scatter brained, and can't make short posts. One or two too many concussions, I guess.
Ideas???
Thanks, Danny

Forgot to mention, if its worth something and ya feel bad about takin it for free, I could use a tiller for a JD112, Ha Ha.
Seriously, donation to good home.
U haul. No strings.

Its probably worth quite a bit... If it works right off the bat. Certainly not a dime a dozen to the right people! There are a few on "tractorhouse.com" right now that will give You some idea of what I mean. I don't think I would pay what they are asking.

WOW, JD30 combine must be unpopular,
darn near to the bottom of the page already.
I just traded scrap for it, its in decent shape overall,
ain't it got any historical value?
With a little checkin, I imagine I could get the lineage
all the way back to 1st owner at the dealer...
I think the same owner that has it now.
I'll do something with it.
FREE to anyone that will respect it.
Lookin like I might have to clean out the lean to--
I mean have my step sons clean out the lean to, haha

As your finding out combines are not collected as much as tractors or other smaller implements. Some of the reasons are the larger size that makes storing them and moving them harder. Also there are few places that have crops/land to harvest at shows.

As for how "rare" I know of 3-4 within 50 miles of me here in North-East Iowa. So there not that rare here. In other areas of the country they might be.

Hi,
I would be interested in the combine. I am from central Illinois
and have a pull type combine. I think that they are a piece of
farming history that are under appreciated. So If the combine
is still available I would be interested in coming and taking a
look at it.

Thanks

Click on my profile, get my email and send one if really interested.
I tried to 'pm' and that is disabled.
I will contact the 'tractor society' name that was posted.
I will contact the folks that have email enabled in profile.
I'm a bit slow, and not on computer much,
so bear with me, please.
I'm glad some folks are interested.
When it gets here, its not in a hurry,
the guys pretty busy but honest,
I will let folks know.
my neighbor and I will try to get it 'mobile'.
Thanks

you might try putting it in the classifieds of the Geneseo IL AE&TA for a bit. http://ae-ta.com/ This is a working farm show that usually has a number of combines and pickers at the show, both on display and in operation and a lot of members really like the old combines.

UPDATE:
About the John Deere 30 combine.
It has been pulled up close to the road now.
much easier to load.
I hope to get pics Thursday,
and know more about its condition.
Once I have looked closer and have pics,
I plan to contact the above mentioned website and org.
Again, I was unable to pm any individuals.
If interested, please email me, or post here.
It is near Farmer City, Kind of West of Champaign, IL.
We can figure out the logistics later.
Thanks for everyone's tips and interest,
please follow up, and keep them ideas coming.
Hopefully, if this is the one I think it is,
it IS worth saving.
Again, will donate to anyone or org that will 'respect' it,
rather than it getting scrapped.
Thanks again,
Danny
