What disc for Farmall M

Wondering what disc was usually sold for or pulled behind the Farmall Ms. I have a 51 M and have been looking at an IH # 37 wheel disc. Would this be the correct IH disc for it want to be some what close to historically correct as it will go with the tractor to some shows.

Farmers of that era used what they had , l would pick one that did what I wanted. The 37 is good but many used older implements .

We had a 10 foot pull type disc that was transported in the field, or field to field by releasing the gang angle so each rolled straight.
To go distances we used an implement carrier that lifted it off the ground for transport. (early to mid 50s. Then we purchased a wheel disk and were in Fat City. Jim

Dad used a 8 ft. Case tandem disk behind a CC Case and F-20, then behind a 41 M for a while. Then purchased a 10 ft. Krause wheel disk and it was pull by the M and later the 400. The he bought a 656 and wore out the Krause and went to a 37 IH. I guess the M was gone when the 37 IH come along.

I saw a McCormick Brochure on Ebay just a couple of minutes ago that shows a "35-A" disk from the 50's. Pictures show them being pulled by M's, & H's. Both wheel, & non wheeled disks. For $7 it might be a good idea to buy it, & research for yourself! Around 8 - 12 1/2 feet wide models. I went through 3 different IH, & McCormick books I have, & found the authors didn't care about disks apparently. The 35-A was not even mentioned; but was shown with a late M. IH 37's came out around 1959 during 460, 560 tractor era. But the 37 looks almost the same as the 35-A.

The people I knew that had Farmall H tractors and traded up to a Farmall M used the same 8 foot disc they had. They added more behind the disc. A Dad took on more land after my Grand Father became ill and I spent my spring and summers on a Farmall M. When I looked back I would see a disc, packer and a spring tooth drag. When I looked forward I would see trees in fencerows where I was compelled to turn around and go back to go around stone piles with trees.
Farmers in our area didn't go in debt to buy machinery when they traded for larger tractors but would buy something larger a year or so later.

Most of the M's in in this part of the country was worn out pullin a Mc Cormick 9 A 6' pull type disc, back then people would buy a larger tractor.did noy worry much about the implements.

In NE IN. a lot of M's pulled # 37 wheel disks, we had one with a crank on the tongue and one that was self leveling, they were good disks.

Ih #37 that is 8 ft wide would be perfect for a 51 super M

I think you will find the 10 ft is a little large for the tractor. You will need dual tires in the rear and have to drop down a gear to pull it in soft soil or plowed ground

On hard groud it will pull it fine just won't go so deep as I. Soft soil

I have a 40-disc 12' IH #37 I pull behind my '44 M. Will pull it in plowed ground, sunk to the axles, but the tractor runs out of traction before it runs out of power.
