Min HP Required to Pull 35 Foot Cultivator?

Hey all,

What would the minimum horsepower be to pull a 35 foot S-tine finishing cultivator with flat bar double rolling harrows in medium to heavy clay loam soils? We had 270 horse in front of the cultivator and pulled it no problem, just wondering if any of the smaller tractors could do the job.

Thanks for any help/advice!

Well, I'll be the first one in an say 200. And I do mean pull not crawl.

But somebody will be along and say they knew somebody that pulled one with a M.

You need a Super M for that job.

The neighbor runs a 35 foot with an 8430 Deere. Those are
over 200 horse I believe but not much. 225 would do it. The
draw bar and things are really the benefit of the 225 - more
stout and won"t wear as quick. Along with everything else, too.

I pulled one to the field with the 880 oliver but once there hooked it to the 2594 fwd but what do I know

I would say at least 200. I pull a 32.5' and 5 bar harrow with a
Cat 55 and wouldn't want a whole bunch less. It's nice to have
that little extra for up hills and such.

Neighbor used to pull a 42' with a 185 white, think it was
turned up to 225hp but he had it weighted and dualed and it
actually did pretty good for that size tractor on that big of
digger. Wouldn't wanna try it but it worked for him.
