plow size for a 4030

A good friend a ways south of me has a small custom hay operation. runs a 4030 deere called and asked what size moldboard he could pull. he was thinking 5-16 but i dont think that is right. my oliver 1850 can pull 5 but does much better with 4-16. I dont know much about deere or the 30 series. what should i tell him?

80 pto hp is what its rated? Thought it was a little bigger than that, I don't know Green so well.

Yea, 4-16 would be a match for it, even a little much in my ground if plowing up hard sod..... Would only pull a 5 bottom here out to the field, not in the ground.....

A cousin had a 2840, 18.4x34 tires. He pulled 4x16. Just drop a gear or two in sod. It was a nice tractor when it was not in the shop. I think the 4030 was available at the same time. I'll never know why he got the 2840 instead of the 4030. Same power, (maybe the same engine) same tires.
He traded it for a 4240. He retired years ago, but someone else will have to sell the 4240. He can't bring himself to part with it!
