Farmall M Tune Up

I have a 1941 Farmall M. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on cheap ways to increase the horsepower on my tractor and how much horsepower the mods will add?

Thanks!

Just a good 'tuneup' and everything set to a 'knat's tail' is about all you can do.Anything else(cams;big pistons;stroker kits;turbos.....) mean big money.

if it has a distributor, have a look at the mechanical advance unit located under the points plate. most are in need of repair. pull governor off n repair/replace governor weights n pins. get a stiffer governor spring. most hardware stores have em. good spark plugs, points or petronix ignition is fine. id pull the rocker arm assembly off, n check the rocker tips where it touches the valves. always worn there n messes with valve lash adjustment. just that mentioned in list here, will give it a small boost n you make some reapirs that may be long overdue.

JRSutton, I pull with it and I'm just looking for a few more horses until I get the money and time to put high compression pistons and a 450 head on it.
