Old Popper,That is exactly the same version "A" I grew up running! Battery box, round shift cluster, covered flywheel, cast wheel weights. Does it have a water pump? Looks like you even have a "supercharger" tied to the throttle! Where is this? I wonder if it could be it?

Somehow in the past I acquired a book on the history of the New Idea company. My wife's dad worked there besides farming and of course used New Idea equipment. Also I saved a newspaper ad from 1983 when New Idea discontinued making pull pickers.

Just guessing, Chris, but I'd bet it does not have a water pump, at least not a factory one. I think the water pumps came along in '51 or '52, along with the single shifter.

If I'm wrong, I'll find out, eh?

Hi Chris, This tractor is in NW Ia. no water pump, but it is a good running old tractor. What you see hanging from the throttle is my homemade tool to tighten the lever-nuts on the buggy top canopy that I have for it.

This pair of 13.6/38s with tubes were $1267 installed. As you can see, were made in India. If I remember right Firestones would have been around $450 more.
