Need Extra Work

Hey guys, I need to find some extra work as my overtime was cut at my job. Would like it to be tractor related!

I do some bushogging for an older couple, maybe I can expand that.

I also have a post hole digger, I could probably advertize for fences, etc.

Any other tractor-related ideas? Does anyone have a successful side business this way? I have a JD 5303 (55 PTO hp) with FEL. A nice sized tractor.

If you have a good hay mower some counties and townships contract out their ditch mowing.

Local man makes a good liveing doing just that.Works for homeowners drilling post holes,plowing/rototilling gardens,mowing weeds,light field work.............Uses Kubotas,just bought a second one last year-Brand New!

I would look into the cost of insurance and all other inputs to see if it will work for you.

You located in an area with lots of row crops?

Many Insurance companies hire Per-diem crop adjusters. About as farm related as it gets. You need to be computer literate, able to walk fields and climb grain bins. It is very technical, but challenging.

I do custom tractor work for a living now. It took 10 years to develop a good customer base. You have to be good at what you do, as there is always a newbie out there trying to take away your business. I have an advantage over the part timers because I am available any time of day, 7 days a week. I am at a disadvantage with the retired guys that are just looking to enhance their retirement fund.... Check the "services" section on the local CL and ads in the local "nickel" paper to see what your competition looks like.

Grade gravel driveways, Get a box blade and you are all set. Send out flyers to 50 homes and see if they bite. Just be upfront, "I will grade your driveway for $15 per 100 foot of drive, or whatever.
