(quoted from post at 15:45:34 03/24/14) OkaY, thanks, never heard that term before.

Company called Funk made bolt in conversions for putt either an I6 or V8 (both flatheads) into a Ford 8N tractor. Not all that common and the originals in decent shape go for 5K or better.

Check out the N page here on YT I'm sure some of the folks over there will be more than happy to post a few pics for you and give you the history.

An exhibitor at the LaGrange, IN show some years ago had an original 8N, an I-6 Funk conversion, a V-8 Funk conversion, a V-12 conversion, and another on with a Kubota diesel in it. All were very well done and looked absolutely original. It was an impressive display. Wish I had taken some pictures.

Hi
If it's anything like it is round here you're gonna be real lucky to get that. everybody and there dog on the internet knows what this stuff is worth these days. Especially on a tractor forum!.
They are very rare, I would buy a kit and build one if you got money to spend!. Most of what is around is priced as rare or barn find, and at double what it is really worth, for a particular model in rough condition.

I collect fordson majors got 2 with p6 diesels. I can't find parts for them anywhere here in Canada, that I need at the moment. This was a good area for them.
Guys think i am scamming them for profit and gonna ship them back to the U.k,as has been happening with tractors all over North America in the last few years. so that doesn't really help anybody either, with rarer tractors anymore.
The only luck you might have is finding a sleeper out there in the bush or barn, but somebody usually knows it's there and it will go at there first chance to get it, before you ever even get to hear about it.

I advertised but all I got for my time was guys phoning with newer models they figured were worth $5000 because i was advertising for a particular model.I just told them wrong model not interested. I would pay good money for the right thing. not $5000 for what they have that makes $2500 on a good day that I don't even want.

Good luck I hope you find one but my experience over a good few years is, Rocking horse poo is getting easier to find than certain tractor models.
Regards Robert

Don't know if it's the same Funk as the hydraulics? The MF instant reverse transmission was made by Funk or built under license from Funk. One of the first purpose built transmissions for a loader and used for many years.

Yep, I know. There's a nice guy a few miles west of Monett MO., on Highway 60, named Sprenkle, has a business called Sprenkle Dozing, and I believe he has several Fords with Funk's in his collection. He has this collection out alongside the highway, but he says it is not for sale, just his showing them. However they're all just sitting out in the weather. Has a full assortment of all various makes and models. I'll see if I can get his phone.

Funk made the kit I think, The engine is a ford flathead. My neighbor got a flathead v-8 out of a old dump truck out of a junkyard. The engine was loose They make a kit (spacer)for the trans. Some had 60 hp some 90 hp the number of head bolts determined the hp.Check the N news.

There was a guy in photo ads a couple of weeks ago selling the conversion parts and a basket case engine for $1,500. His phone# might have been 219-689-7161. I know he was in northern Indiana and that is the only number in my history I don't recognize.
