Does anybody else remember those signs that used to be along the roads in Northern Michigan? They were like Burma Shave signs but they were for the Olsen Knife Company. Fatty fatty,run for your life. Here comes Skinny with an Olsen knife.

I actually do. Seems as though I remember seeing them on US 131 south between Big Rapids and Grand Rapids when I was a kid. Is that where you saw them?

Randy, was Olsen Knife in Howard City? I remember going in there north of Grand Rapids years ago.

I have one of their hatchets that the head on it about 4 inches long and 3 inches wide. It is like new as I only used it once a year when getting ready for deer hunting. I also have a knife made by them in Howard City.

They probably were along 131,but I remember them being up around Grayling maybe along old 27 or something too.

Now that I mull it over a while, perhaps M37? Still seems just north of Grand Rapids. I suspect you folks are right.

I remember the signs, and as a kid, my dad pointed out the factory when we drove by it once. He said they made a good product, but I never was able yo get one, when I became of knife buying age.

I remember them very well. We used to take old 131 north a lot before the freeway got built.

Yup. Those signs were just North of Pierson along 131, which is now Federal highway. My wife bought a hunting knife for me from there in the sixties, which I still have. They made a lot of knifes for the muck farmers to cut celery with.

Being from the south, never saw the Olsen knife signs, but we did see the Burma Shave signs. They are long gone now.
