My setback for the day.

I was planning to get the steering back together on MH44 today, but the machine shop did not bore the holes big enough for the new tie rods. They stick out too much and hit. If you ever run into this, the small hole on a WD tie rod end should be .660", mine came back at .620".

That is better than to big, I will drop them back off in the morning. The shop is real good to work with.

I did get everything cleaned up, marked and ready to go back in. Aligning the pitman arm on the shaft requires the steering gear box apart.

Thought you had boughten a reamer with the correct taper???

Projects take longer when you have to have parts made.

Where MH44 with wide fronts rare??? If they where not I would think that someone would still be making the tie rod ends.

Do you have to go to Agco for any OEM parts that are still available??? If so I feel for you. Agco's parts system is not the best. Around here it takes more time and money for Agco parts than JD or CIH.

The taper was correct all along. It just was not a big enough hole, the machine shop got it better, but not big enough.

There are basically 2 tapers for 90% of tie rods and pitman arms, 1.5" or 2" per foot.
