Right letters, wrong order

My son-in-law put google chrome on my computer. I can still use internet explorer or google chrome. It's a little faster, plus when I misspell something, the word gets a underlined in red, sometimes gray. Haven't figured how to get correct spelling yet, but the older I get the more my fingers put down the right letters, wrong order.

Thought some of you would like to know.

I tried Google chrome once. Spent about 15 minutes trying to figure it out, and then I uninstalled it. I use Firefox. A lot faster than internet explorer and much easier to use.

Chrome comes with the google tracking software in it. Google now knows everything you do online. Dump it. Firefox is a good option. You can use spell check.

Mine works by right clicking on the misspelled word. Alternate spellings will come up and if you left click on the one you want the computer will change it for you. If your spelling is really bad it won't guess, however.

I tried Chrome but didn"t like it. I am trying out Icedragon now which is Firefox with the added benefit of Comodo security. Up to now I like it very much and yes it does have a built in spell checker.

dcarp,
You are worried about GOOGLE, come on, REALLY.

As a landlord, I've learned how to do background checks on prospective tenants. Some is free, legal, on line, some I pay my lawyer $15 to get. If for any reason, speeding ticket, sued, arrested, been in jail, divorced, bought or sold property, had a utility bill in your name, land line phone number, there is a ton of info out there. Some you have to pay for, some you don't. I get a prospective tenant to sign a paper giving me permission to do a background check, I can know more about the person, than the person knows. There is even a free place where if I put your name and SS#, it will tell me if they match.

If you have posted a pic of your mug shot or family's, it's on a computer data base some place. Your mug shot is better than a finger print.

REALLY YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT GOOGLE.

I'm not.

The issue is the collection of data including any online banking, investing, purchasing. If they collect the data and it gets misused a good hacker can go to the sites you used and clean you out.
I realize the vast amount of public information out there but I have no intention of blindly helping the crooks clean me out by allowing more sensitive information be collected.
No offense George but you sound just like my daughter. She didn't listen, thought it can't happen to me. Then her American Express card got hijacked, next her Bank account got cleaned out. Now she wishes she had listened.

My Neighbour borrowed my plough. It is blue in colour. I saw a boat in a harbour, it was the same colour as my plough.

Of course we do!

Google is not the only company/organization gathering data.
There's a reason free software and browsers are "free".
No such thing as a free lunch so to speak.

Well, yes I am to a degree. We get all bent about NSA spying on us and recording all our phone calls and emails and where our money is going, etc. Google is doing the same thing and reports are they are working with the gov't too. Then there's the Common Core educational system that contains things to come later that track and allegedly work to "modify" the kids buying habits and interests.

I dunno. Maybe it seems a little sci-fi and "1984", but Big Brother really, truly IS watching you. That's fine if you're a child pron maker and you got to prison for life. Thing is, what if you're a old guy that wants to exercise some of his rights, like speaking out against a particular President or Congressman? A certain politician that was the First female Speaker is all bent out of shape because MAYBE the CIA was tracking their computer files, but she's fine with NSA and Google tracking our computer use.

Sometimes the question isn't, "Am I paranoid?" but rather "Am I paranoid enough?!!!".
