other options than Craigslist

tried the recommended site searchtempest.com but I have 2 ads in local craigslist but didnt show up in local craigslist scan. maybe not doing right.

CL is odd. My wife will see stuff on her laptop that I don't recall seeing on my PC. Why? I don't know, computer settings maybe? I know you have to use the right key words and there is an option to search the description of the item too.

I have found that searchtempest is not always up to date, many times I have clicked on a item that has already been removed. It may work the same with newly listed items.

May just be another version of what others have suggested, but I often use Yakaz.com when searching for larger items.

It basically searches all of craigslist - and some others.

a bit clunky - not the easiest thing to figure out - but it's how I found my most recent truck.

Hi, founder of SearchTempest here. This came up in my Google alerts and I figured I might be able to shed some light!

I just wanted to mention that by default, SearchTempest uses Google to power its craigslist results. This is fast and convenient, but Google does occasionally miss things, and has some delay in indexing new posts. However, if you want to be sure to catch everything, we do have a mode called Direct Results, which will let you get the results straight from craigslist, along with a little navigation window to flip through the cities. Might be what some of you are looking for. More info here: http://www.searchtempest.com/faq.php#directresults.

Also, if you often perform the same search, you might want to check out our RSS tool, which can largely automate that for you: http://www.searchtempest.com/faq.php#rss

Hope that helps!
Nathan
