ATV tires on a Ford compact model 1110

Thanks for the comment Old. I was checking the tires that are on the tractor and they are 2-ply. I thought that was kinda light-weight, but they have been on it for a long time. I know that the replacement turf tires from Walmart are 4-ply, but they do not have much grabbing tread.

Thanks for that info. I found a couple of tires on sale that I could not say no to. They are 2" thinner than the ones coming off, but I think they will work, as the ag tires are also thinner. Hope so, anyway..Thanks again..

They will solve the slippy problem BUT you can also rip the crap out of Your grass. Be a little careful. Jeffcat

Yeah, AGs CAN do a number on your grass, however, in a low traction situation you are more likely to tear up the grass with turfs than with AGs, as the turfs will lose traction and spin when AGs would just walk on through without spinning.

I'm running CST ANCLA tires on three of my Bolens Large Frame tractors, and they haven't hurt the grass at all.

The only problem I see would getting tires the right size. I'm not sure that there are a lot of ATV/UTV tires in 16"

My Bolens HTD 1000 is in that grey area between Garden Tractor and SCUT. They are fairly large and heavy (1,140 Lb. shipping wt. which is about the same at the Ford 1100) but use 26x12-12 tires, which are pretty common.

I ordered a pair of cheapies for the front. My 1110 is mostly for mowing, but in the winter, I would like to do more than just sit with all tires spinning. I am hoping these semi-knobby tires I ordered will bite into the snow at least a little bit. Thanks to all for the useful info..Ron

Chains was one of my options, but the front tires are suffering from dry-rot and have to be replaced anyway. I just think that ATV tires are a better option than turf tires. If I use ag tires, I have to change wheels too. I hope the ATV tires I ordered will work. Thanks for the input..

Input ATV tires on the lawn tractor. Rare now to spin out or leave ruts. There is less lawn damage than with the factory tires. We run 1psi and let them squat.

1 PSI. That is low. Don't think my guage will go that low...lol. BTW, I ordered some from Rocky Mountain on Tuesday and they arrived this pm. I never had that kind of cooperation from a mail order place. I am impressed. Now, to see if they will work..
