Found a oliver 1850 gas for sale! Im a farmall guy but looks like
a nice looking original tractor! I like buying original paint
tractors that still look good! But i do use them to pay for them
selves! Whats your thoughts the guy is asking 4500!

Price sounds good for a real nice original, but yea, thirsty of you're planning to use it.

Good, strong and relatively easy to work on. Have had mine for 8 years, very dependable and cheap 90-100hp tractor. Will start when very cold too.

Brian,

I don't know if it means anything in particular, but tractor house has them listed from $4,000.00 to $12,000.00. I guess it depends on the condition of the tractor, where you're located, and how much you want the tractor.

There's an Agco dealer near me, but he told me that parts are really getting scarce. Oliver was never popular in this area (Middle Tennessee) so there aren't many junk yards around that have any parts.

Good luck with your decision.

An Oliver 1850 gas tractor is a nice running tractor. The $4500 asking price is in line. The only issue with them is that they really like the fuel if pulled hard. For light work it would be fine but real expensive if worked hard.

Also how about more details? What kind of options does it have? Wide front, Hydra Power (2 speed),over under(3 speed) fender fuel tanks, cab and if so which one, tire size. You get the picture. Made to compete with IH 806 gas.

Just tellen from pics wide front 3 point set of wheel weights three front end weights! 6100 hours! Tires probly 60 percent probly 18.4/34s short and long bars!

I have a Case 811B gas, about 55hp. An 1850 is a lot bigger engine. If you just want it to play with it's fine. If you want to actually use it, then you'll have to do like I do with the big Case and prepare to spend an LOT in gas money.

Paid $5,500 for a 1850 diesel last summer in good condition. $4,500 is fair. I would think any 90 hp. gas tractor is gonna be thristy. If you buy this tractor I would be very interested in an honest comparison of the 1850 to an 806. When my father sold Oliver, he always considered an 806 to be the 1850's toughest competition and similar in performance. Excluding Farmall and Oliver only guys, anytime he demonstrated an 1850 agaisnt an 806 the chances of a sale were 50/50.
