Snow melting?

Everyone talks about getting snow, nobody says
anything about it melting. Has there been so much
this year that there will be flooding. Here we will
be months cleaning up limbs and trees from our ice
storm. Miss Feet was suppose to ship me some snow
(still waiting).

RBnSC; a friend called this a.m. after buying an old AC baler and stated the snow west of Rochester, Minnesnowta was so deep the fellers horses were walking over the fences. So...it will be weeks before we can retrieve same. With six to eight feet of frost under all the snow, it would be a blessing if the snow melt was slsllllllllloooww. Our fluffy white stuff doesn't have a huge amount of moisture but, a fast thaw means flooding and also any and all ground water replenishment would be welcome. But, we aren't in control. My coffee is cold.

Feb. 19-23 we had our "Jan." thaw. Started out nicest ever. Clear and sunny, and just warm enough to start the melt. Then second day was cloudy, blustery, but the slow melt continued. Then on Fri., day three, the big storm was pushing north through the Midwest. We were getting warm air pushed north, on the east side of the storm, with just a chance of rain. Just as the snow was melting nicely, that chance turned into just over an inch of rain. The only good thing about all the flooding was the hard frozen ground held. Flooding was just everywhere as ditches were full of packed snow/ice.
We have very little snow to get rid of now.

Melted a little bit the last two days but we still have at least 4 feet on the ground and some places its 6 feet deep. Be a while before we have to worry about flooding, but I'm sure there will be some in another few weeks.

I was just down in Florence last week and was really surprised at the amount of limbs on the ground, from the storm, that people had piled up. Talked to a buddy of mine this afternoon that runs a tree service, and has been trying to sell his old bucket truck. He said he's got one group of guys looking at it to take to SC because they have a lot of work in the area due to the storm.

RBnSC,
LOL... you have to give the address - because we just got ten inches of fresh stuff this past week. Will ship cheap!!!

Ron,
We had branches falling all through the winter. A bit of ice, wind, then they all started. I just kept pitchin' 'em out of the way and now will have to chase them in the woods and other trees.
