We are hauling 3 loads of de-activated bomb casing ( 5 1/2 feet long each ) from WI down to Phoenix. Our Op Man so far has found two return loads, One is pillows, and the other is bubble wrap. We all had a good laff over that one. True Story.

many years ogo, was hauling processed goose down feathers , 45ft drop van trailer, weighing only 7k, gross 20k t-t, was nice goiong down all the passes where the speed limit was only 35 for trucks weighing over 26k, ports thought i was running empty,, boy if they only knew...lol

Back in the early 80s I drove for Tri State Motor Transit out of Joplin, MO. At the time they were the largest hauler of explosives in the US.
So during the Falklands War between the Brits and Argentina the US was resupplying the Brits.
I hauled several loads of bombs to a port facility I think it was in Little Creek VA.
Two of us driving team in the truck.
So I was going through West VA with a full load of bombs on a flad bed when the Detroit engine puked on me.
Team mate was sleeping. I got out and set out the safety triangles then waited.
A W VA highway patrol came up and stopped and asked what the problem was. I told him so he radioed to HQ and got help on the way.
Then he takes a look at the Class A Explosive placards, then notices all the bombs on the trailer. To say he did a double take would be seriously understating it.
Then he says OK I'll be behind you with my lights on giving oncoming traffic a warning.
So he backs his squad about 3/8 mile behind us and sat there.
I guess he didn't want to get too close. LOL
This was in White Sulpher Springs W VA if I remember right.
True story

I got a kick out of how Tri-State could drive cross country with their loads but as soon as they got to the Naval base the Navy gave them an escort, front and back, from the front gate to the ordinance bunkers there at NAS Norfolk. Its been 40 plus or so years ago but seems they had a distinctive light green paint job and used COE Freightliners. 40 ft. trailers were still the norm at the time.

I had a call one time to see if I was interested in disposing of bomb casings that were filled with concrete. They had to be cut up into unrecognizable pieces. The guy never called back.
