where can I buy calcium cloride for mixing my own tire balla

Have you tried a local tire shop ?

Gempler's Supply sells lots of tire goodies. Should be able to find them on line.

We used to get it from the local concrete batch plants. They
mix it in concrete to speed up setting up, they were the
cheapest place we found.

Masonry supply house should have it in flake form, thats where I get mine, been a few years but they sell it

i get calcium chloride in 50 lb bags from farm service. about 15 dollars a bag, anybody that sells fertilizer and supplies should have it. get the flakes, it dissolves easier in water. i have a 100 gallon water tank that i mix it. it generates a lot of heat when mixed, so let it cool for a while before loading a tire. i mix 5 lbs of calcium per gallon of water, it gives the most weight per gallon and has a freeze point of about -60 f.

Have you pondered wheel weights? If they are available and affordable for your application you might prefer them.

Lots of good things with weights:
1.No pumping required if you stab a tire
2.Residual value if you decide to sell them
3.No loss if you stab a tire (you dont have to buy more)
4.No cost of pumps or buckets to mix the solution
5.No risk of corrosion on the rim from the salt
6.Weight can be added or taken away according to need.
7.Tires will wear more evenly
8.Tractive effeciency is better with weights
9.Ride is smoothest with no liquid in the tire

If you have an odd-ball tractor fluid may be your best option but if you have something more common you might want to weigh the long-term costs of each.

Certain types of ice melt are made from calcium chloride. Most of the ones that are, state so on the bag.

You can get ice melt just about everywhere... Farm and fleet, Walmart, grocery stores, hardware stores, big box stores...

Go to your local feed mill, they should have it because it is mixed in some feeds.

My local Best Hardware gets pallets of it in
December as ice melt.

Good luck now with the tough winter - might have to
wait to spring - when ever that decided to come.

Be careful. Much of what is sold as ICE MELT is a mix of calcium
chloride and other things. This is not what you want in your tires.
Also the pellets won't dissolve easily. Flake calcium is easiest.

Why use CaCl when much better products are now on the market?
CaCl was only used for decades only because nobody knew of anything else or tradition.

I can get an 900lbs of weight from calcium. for about 100 bucks. And I don't think I could get near that with weights. Thanks for all the replies and suggestions.
