Hey guys need a few opinions here. A jd 3010 with 48 loader and it's a diesel, restored 3700 hrs coming to auction. Not familiar with the model what's the history dependability etc? It looks like a good size for my little mini farm. Many thanks

Not saying mine wasn't a lemon, but it was one of the top three worst tractors I ever owned. Just sayin.

Assuming restored includes rebuilding any worn or damaged components then things to check for are 3020 pistons and sleeves (desirable and adds power). Balancers in engine have been checked and bearings not excessively worn. Clean shifting of transmission which means no issues with linkages or worn synchronizer assemblies. PTO engages smoothly and no issue in 540 operation. If the PTO hub has worked loose it may have damaged or broken the shifter mechanism. Hydraulics work and pump is fairly quiet as opposed to noisy and rattling which signals impending repair required. No leak around the yoke where the lift arms pull off of.
Not as good as the 20 series were but if there are no issues such as listed above it should work out decent. The later diesels that were in the 2510 and 2520 were superior in torque and fuel economy but of course those tractors price much hire especially the 2520.
I hope the 3010 checks out but if there are too many questions I would pass in favor of something else.

Your welcome Larry, time will heal her heart, it did heal mine.

I would be real cautious, engine parts seem real hard to come by.

I really do not trust "restored" unless I know the people that did it real well.

Farmall 706 was at the top of the list,John Deere 730 diesel was number 3. Nice collector tractor, but made a dammed poor main tractor.
