repairing FRP trailer sides

I have a chance to get some FREE box trailers made out of FRP. the sides are buckling because of rot and old age. I want to drop them on the ground for hay storage. Am I better scabbing marine on the outside than on the inside? the trailers are soft up about 12 to 18 inches for about 10feet from the back. i have others that are blocked up and lasted for years. Very open to ideas....these trailers have current dated tires that i need.

I'd block them up evenly over the length of the trailer and not worry about it unless they get really bad. If you take out the stress of only being supported on the ends I think they would hold together for a long time.

You can cut out the rotted area. You will need to bolt or rivet the new piece to the old part with a scab plate. The plate will need to be sealed or it will leak water in.
