Differences between Panzer and Farmall Cub HP

Im told a Farmall Cub red tractor has around 10hp, and can pull a 10/12in bottom plow.
Well I just got told that a 3 wheel Panzer garden tractor has 10hp and can pull a 10in plow. Is that right.

I don't know anything about the Panzer, but the Cub will pull the 12" plow. I knew a man when I was growing up that bought a new Cub with the mounted plow in 1948, and paid for it plowing gardens in the small town of Alta, Ia. Of course that was not long after the war, and everyone planted a garden.

Big difference between a Panzer with 16" drive wheels and a small Briggs & Stratton engine when compared to small farm tractors like Farmal Cubs, Massey Harris Ponies or a Deere L or LA. That "10 horse" figure is misleading.

A Panzer with a Briggs # 23 engine is only 23 cubic inches and only makes a sustained 7.6 brake horsepower, along with 15.8 max pound-feet of torque.

A Farmal Cub has an engine with 59.5 cubic inches and makes 32 foot pounds of max torque @ 1800 RPM. The engine can make 14 horse on a dyno but the tractor is rated at 10 horse drawbar.

Farmall Cub - single furrow 12" plow - No problem - 2 nd gear wide open throttle.
Had one for twelve years.

Well, as I was shown. IF youll go to U Tubes, and type in Panzer tractors plowing, youll se around 4 maybe plowing in a field. on one of them it states the model # and says that its pulling a 10in plow. AND Its clipping right along.

See if this makes sense to you. I have a Cub Lo-Boy that has 11 hp at the PTO. Last summer at RPRU in Ohio, Nebraska Cowman has his drawbar dyno drag sled setup. After everyone wasn't looking, I asked if I could give it a shot. We disconnected the trailing Hs and just pulled the truck. I made it all the way around the track, but he had to "help" me in a couple places. The highest HP I registered was 2.75 hp. This is saying that all that tractor needs is 2.75 hp because I can't use more of it anyway in those ground conditions. Yea, I could put more weights on it, but whatever. So if you think you need more HP you are nutz. You need more traction first.

I also get a kick out of some of these YouTube movies showing how one brand of truck having "so much more power" than another when hooked bumper to bumper. Both are spinning the tires. So it is not about power, it is about weight and traction.

Width is only 1/2 the equation when plowing depth
is the other half and thats what will separate the
Panzer from the Cub.The Panzer probably couldn't even pick up the Cub's plow.
