Got a surprise Yesterday

Mom of a deceased friend of mine asked me to meet her at her attorney's office yesterday. Find out that I now an the executor of her estate, have power of attorney, and manager of all her property, including farms and house rentals. I do have to get final approval from her attorney on everything, which I have no problem with. I had no clue why she wanted me at the attorney's office and it surprise the heck out of me.

Boy do I feel sorry for you! My SIL is all that for her mother's estate and she's going through h*ll already and her mother isn't even dead yet.

Yes thats nice she thinks of you it happened to me. but on a sad note familys will fight i got into the middle of my aunt and my mom i even had to call welfare dept on my mom she total disregard my aunts wishes.i wasnt sure if i did the right thing but one day my aunts mind cleared and she thanked me .

Don't forget administrators can get paid. Sounds like you have a lot of work managing properties. The probate judge will set your pay.

Her son and I were best friends our whole life. When we were growing up, if you found one of us you found both. Son was the only child, I'm kinda like her unofficial adopted son, and all of her relatives are dead to the best of my knowledge. Don't know what's in the will and don't need to know. If she feels I need to know something, she'll tell me. If I do something she's not happy with, she'll tell me. So as long as she's alive it's her business. As far as getting paid, that's not even on my list. She's like a second Mom.

15 yr.s ago a very good friend died. no living relatives around here. We got a call from the attorney saying my wife and I were named co-executor and co power of attorney which meant that all business had to have my wife and me there as one could not sign for the other. I was glad she thought enough of us to do that but the co part made it hard

You should fell honored that she thinks this highly of you. We all will need someone to finish our business when we leave this world. Not all of us will have family to do it for us.
